August Bookclub Reminder

Greetings from Lake Tahoe. Resting and enjoying the simple life - no dishes, dogs, laundry and in the spirit of being green, trying out ye olde paperback books! I'm enjoying reading "A Farewell to Arms" after having read "The Paris Wife". I recommend it as a breezy read that gives a renewed appreciation for Hemingway's writing style and an insight into his 'style' of romance!

Christmas in July! Actually it's June and only cookies.....

Reminiscent of Christmas cookie baking, Diane and I teamed up with Trudy to create a slew of cookies to send to Hector's deployed team of special forces in the Philippines- 24 tins to be exact! We discussed books and everything else under the sun, which is what happens when you have hours and hours together :)



A book I highly recommend is "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Lutrell - "The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10".... make sure you have water nearby because you will be unable to put the book down.

Looking forward to hosting our next Book Club meeting on Thursday, June 23.  In addition to discussing Sarah's Key, I can't wait to hear the Mission Inn stories from May!  Please let me know via a blog posting if you can attend.

Dearest Novel Group,
Our week-end away, despite being short and sweet, was just perfect! Sue has canceled the proposed meeting at her home this Thursday due to poor response. Put next May's visit to the Mission Inn on your 2012 calendar; our group is going again!
